The Next Season at Casler Financial

Over the last few years, both life and business have continued to evolve in ways I never could have fully anticipated.

As many of you know, I’ve always cared deeply about building relationships with clients and helping business owners navigate not just taxes, but the bigger picture of stewarding and growing what they’ve worked so hard to build. That part of my work continues to be incredibly meaningful to me and always will.

At the same time, life outside of business has also entered a new season. I’m the mom of three amazing kids, and my oldest will be graduating high school in less than a month — a milestone that feels both exciting and surreal.

In addition to running Casler Financial, I’m also helping manage the property and Airbnb cabins my family inherited in North Idaho after my dad passed away in 2023.

Like many business owners, I’ve had to take an honest look at what it means to grow sustainably. The truth is, I can’t do everything myself — and honestly, that’s not the best way to serve clients well long term anyway.

As Casler Financial continues to grow, one of my biggest focuses is building an exceptional team of people who are smarter and more specialized than I am in different areas of taxation, bookkeeping, business formation, and financial support.

My role is gradually shifting more toward higher-level advising, strategy, and leadership while surrounding our clients with experts who can provide even greater depth of knowledge and support.

(We are currently hiring for an Oregon CPA with experience in business entity returns, as well as Enrolled Agents or Licensed Tax Preparers here in Oregon who would like to learn and grow with us as we expand. Please reach out if interested or share this post with anyone who might be interested in joining our amazing team.)

I truly believe this next season will allow us to improve both the quality of service and the client experience in meaningful ways.

Personally, this season has also stirred something creative in me. I’ve spent years journaling through life, business, faith, motherhood, uncertainty, and growth, and recently I decided to begin sharing some of those reflections publicly on Substack. It’s a different side of me than most people see professionally, but one that has shaped both my life and leadership in profound ways.

If you’d like to follow along, I recently launched Pages from Shay, where I’ll be sharing reflections from old journal entries and the lessons that often only become clear in hindsight. I'll be talking about our family's time living abroad in Mexico during 2016 - 2018, my divorce, my dad's cancer diagnosis and eventual suicide, and my healing journey both emotionally and physically.

Thank you to everyone who has supported my business and family through so many seasons of growth and change. I’m deeply grateful for the trust you continue to place in me and my evolving team here at Casler Financial, and I'm excited for the future of the Casler brand of businesses (our Airbnb cabins in North Idaho are named Casler Farm and can be viewed and booked online here:

At the end of the day, everything I’m building — in business, in writing, and in life — comes back to people, relationships, stewardship, and creating something meaningful that lasts. I’m learning that growth doesn’t always mean doing more yourself; sometimes it means trusting others, building strong teams, allowing space for new creativity, and embracing the next season with openness and faith. I’m incredibly grateful for the clients, friends, family, and community who have walked alongside me through so many chapters already, and I’m genuinely excited for what lies ahead — both for Casler Financial and for all the new things beginning to unfold beyond it.
